I love all the images in the video of Anna and Drew's beautiful August wedding but perhaps my favorites are their reveal and the girls jumping with their flowers.

Don't Fear Having Your Portrait Taken

One of my favorite types of photographs I enjoy taking is the professional head shot. I love using Westcott Spider lights in my Port Townsend studio. These constant lights create soft flattering light. Making a client feel comfortable in front of the camera to get an image that they are pleased with. I guarantee my work, if you are not happy in any way with your images from your session I will offer a free re-shoot.

Main Street Raises $3000 for Jefferson Healthcare

Approximately 500 women came downtown on Oct. 1st for our 12th Annual Girls’ Night Out sponsored by PT Main Street, Jefferson Healthcare, Ozone Socks and generous participating merchants. All 500 goody bags sold out on the day of the event! And the raffle tickets were popular too--congrats to the ticket holder who won the $700 raffle prize. The day started out with the new “Tiara Trot,” and 65 women came Tiara Trotting. Thanks to all who supported Girls’ Night Out which raised over $3000 for Jefferson Healthcare screenings for women in need, and $3000 for our nonprofit Main Street Program. Thank you to The Belmont for hosting 90 women at the After Party--it was great fun! The food was incredible.

The Clothes Horse was one of many of the generous merchants who donated to Girls' Night Out. So taking this photo at the store in front of the Ozone sock display was a perfect backdrop for the photo. Earlier this week I took this photo of Mari from PT Main Street displaying the check for $3000 that was given to Jefferson Healthcare here in Port Townsend.

I'm looking forward to connecting with the winner of the raffle who won a photo session to my studio at Deja View Photography here in Port Townsend.

Bring a New Friend Home Today

I'm so in love with the two young cats I photographed today at the shelter. Little Millie and Malcolm are about seven months old and the shelter would like to see them adopted together. They are so playful and loving and the shelter has asked potential adopters that they consider them to be inside only cats. If I wasn't allergic to cats or my dogs got along with cats these two would be with me on my couch tonight.

You can visit the shelter Tuesday-Sunday from 12-5 or call them at (360) 385-3292.

Anyone have a favorite animal they like on this weeks poster?

Thinking of Adopting a Shelter Cat of Dog? Contact the Humane Society of Jefferson County 360 385-3292

Since I took these photos for this weeks shelter poster Oakley was adopted on Tuesday. Lily is a playful young lady of two, while LB is a sweet, senior lab mix.  I love the detail in the borders of handsome Alfie's ears and the puffy cheeks that long haired Nolan has who is about two years old. I got to spend some time with Arrow the other day after I had finished taking photos. He is a sweet, shy boy deserving of new home.

You can visit the shelter Tuesday-Sunday from 12-5 or call the Humane Society of Jefferson County at 360 385-3292.

Port Townsend High School Senior

I had been looking for the perfect frame so I could hang this image of a High School Senior on my office wall. I found it last weekend and just hung it the other day. One of the new products I offer clients is the ability to walk out of my studio with their images already matted so they can add them to frames that fit their family decor. The professional lab I use offers these wonderful double mats with the photo already mounted within and the mat and mounted on a 1/4 inch foam board.

I want my clients to show off their beautiful images not place them in a box hoping to find time to get them matted and ready to frame.

Goat Parade Marks Opening of Port Townsend Farmers Market

I was asked by the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce to take photos this morning at the PT Farmers Market. Oh my gosh the number of people that showed up for the goat parade and ribbon cutting ceremony was incredible. I was there early to stake a spot but found It was a bit overwhelming once the crowds showed up. Everyone had a camera/cell phone and wanted a photo of the adorable goats. I'm thinking the baby goats might be suffering from "paparazzi syndrome" or perhaps spent the rest of the day signing hoof autographs. Only in PT could you have a parade with a couple goats escorted around the market by talented musicians like Otto & Kristin Smith and some of their students. I love living in PT.

Candle Light Concert in Port Townsend April 23rd

Severals weeks ago I was asked to photograph the talented Madelyn Kowalski and Lisa Lanza. They have a concert coming up on April 23 at the Trinity United Methodist Church here in Port Townsend. It was my first time to meet Madelyn and her Mother but I have known Lisa for several years. Lisa played the piano for a wedding I photographed last fall. Should be a great concert with two very talented musicians.

Tips For Picking Your Wedding Colors

One of the questions a couple may be struggling to figure out in their early wedding planning is to pick their wedding colors. I just ran across these two posts in TheKnot: The first article is 8 Steps to Choosing Your Wedding Colors  and the second article was Hot New Wedding Colors We Love  In the last article I loved the Rose+Willow+Creme theme along with Violet+Fuchsia+Avocado colors.

Here is an arrangement from a summer wedding I photographed a couple years ago at the Farm Kitchen in Poulsbo. The flowers arrangements were created by the bride's sister-in-law Deanna Kitchen.

Great Place for A Healthy Meal Here in Port Townsend

Living close to the Jefferson Healthcare Center is an advantage when needing quality care but it is also a great place for lunch. The food is incredible thanks to Chef Aaron Stark as well as being reasonably price. You can see the weekly menus posted on line so I thought I would share my good fortunate in finding their menu information. If you click on the image the menu will be a bit easier to read or visit their website.

Port Townsend Film Festival

How pleased I am that the Port Townsend Film Festival is using my image of "Women with Red Hat" to promote the Women and Film here in Port Townsend. The event is this weekend and here is a link to get all the details on the movies and how to purchase tickets. I attended the event today and it was a humbling experience to see this beautiful image on the big screen at the Rose Theatre. It was interesting to get feedback from fellow attendees at the event. Many women saw different things in this photograph and asked lots of questions about the model and how I created the image. What a fun experience for me to share my work and to talk to others about my photography.  http://www.ptfilmfest.com/index.html

Looking for Love

This handsome Boxer/Lab Retriever mix named Oakley is seeking a new home. He has the most beautiful shiny coat with a lovely combination of browns and black. He is a sweet guy and would make a great companion. It just takes one person to make a difference in this deserving dogs life. You can visit him at the Jefferson County Humane Society Tuesday-Sunday or call them at 385-3292. Please considering sharing his photo, it just takes one person to see him and want to take him home.

Need a Professional Head Shot Taken in Port Townsend.

Saturday I photographed my friend David who needed an updated portrait for his acting portfolio. He came by my Port Townsend studio and since the weather was so nice we were able to take this image outside. David wears many hats including photographer, film maker, actor and entrepreneur. He was at the Port Townsend Co-op last week demonstrating products from his business, Left Coast Raw located in Sherwood, Oregon.

Wasn't It Just Christmas?

I truly do not know where the last couple months have gone. I'm at the shelter every week to take photos of the animals for adoption. Currently I'm editing photos from several professional head shots I have taken this week plus creating an album with photos from an event I photographed a couple weeks ago. I booked a September wedding this week, have a family session and another professional head shot scheduled for next week and an engagement session in another couple weeks. Life is good and I'm having fun working with all my clients including my pet friends at the shelter.

You can visit the Humane Society of Jefferson County Tuesday-Sunday from 12-5 or call them at 385-3292 for more details on any of the pets in this weeks poster.

Taking the Time to Be-Still

I'm excited to have signed up for an online class with Kim Klassen. The class is entitled Be Still-52 and has well over a hundred students from all over the world in the class. Each week we will be given a assignment or topic with a tutorial to inspire each of us in words and photographs around the weekly theme. This class will give me the opportunity to pull back a bit from my portrait photography to see things around me that I find daily however declare myself too busy to slow down and actually photograph.

I have deer daily bed down in my yard only feet from my front door. They usually arrive at night and seem to enjoy a pile of dirt that was delivered as a yard of dirt for a garden project but over the years it has eroded to a small mound. I think it must hold heat from the sun during the day and be perfect to rest on at night.

Yesterday afternoon this handsome, and rather worldly looking, young buck came into my yard and laid down only feet from my front door. I recognized him by the scaring on his face and realized I had seen him up the street several times a couple weeks ago. Inspired by my "Be Still" class I not only took the time to stop and watch him but grabbed my camera and photographed him. The afternoon light was lovely, as it is this time of year in the Pacific Northwest, and it reflected on and showed off the texture of his antlers. Counting the points led me to believe he is perhaps two and I pondered how tough his life is surviving in an area with so many coyotes, dogs and traffic. To take a few moments to just stand and watch him only feet from my front door was magical.
