WellHearts Luncheon Sponsored by Jefferson Healthcare Foundation-Photos by Deja View Photography and Kay Harper

Jefferson Healthcare Foundation hosted its first Annual WellHearts Luncheon earlier this month. It was a very successful event  with over 150 in attendance.  The keynote speaker was Dr. Rosemary Peterson who gave an excellent presentation on health issues relevant to women. The community support was incredible and it was exciting to be a part of this important health event. Thanks to Kay Harper for helping me take these images at this fund raiser.

Adopt Us and Put a Little Love in Your Heart

Some adorable cats and dogs looking for homes this week at the Humane Society of Jefferson County. The sweet Husky puppy pictured with her head cocked to one side was adopted earlier this week after I had created this poster. I made this odd squeaky noise to get her attention but I have never had a dog turn their head quite this much in response to the noise I make.

You can visit anyone of these animals at the Port Townsend shelter Tuesday-Sunday from 12-5 or call the shelter at (360) 385-3292.

Anyone have a favorite this week?

Planning a Wedding in Port Townsend? Visit the Fort Worden Expo Show on March 1st from 11-3.

This poster was created by the folks at Fort Worden who are organizing the 2014 Wedding Expo to be held this Saturday, March 1st at the Commons. I did not take these images and do not see any photo credit on the poster.

This is the second year for the Fort to hold this event and I think they plan to have over 30 Wedding vendors including, Port Townsend florist like Holly's Fine Flowers, Willow Wind Farm and Gardens plus Petals Flower Shop. Cake and bakery vendors include Safeway, It Takes The Cakes, Sweet Laurette's Cafe and Seashell Cakes. Port Townsend Wedding planner Karle Coppenrath who owns Weddings by Design will be there to answer questions about her services. Daily Pottery Bird another local business will also have a display. There will be several local musicians, wedding officiants and Posh Hair Salon just to mention a few of the local businesses in attendance from 11-3 at the Commons Building at the Fort. Admission is free as is parking so no need for a Discovery Pass if interested in attending the show.

This will be the second year I have attending displaying images from my photography business, Deja View Photography. I'm excited about sharing some of the beautiful custom wedding albums I have designed as well as lots of new products I will be offering my clients this year. 2012 Senior on Location in Port Townsend

Zander is a confident young man who attends Port Townsend High School. Zander wanted an outdoor session to include a series of photographs from around downtown Port Townsend. These three were in front of City Hall and on the Historical Society steps. The color and texture add a depth to the photo that makes this type of fun image different than an image taken in my Port Townsend studio. The light was perfect the December afternoon I took these images.

It is not too early to start thinking about having your Senior Portrait taken if you are going to be a Senior in 2013. Give me a call today, 385-2662, if you want to stop by the studio to visit and schedule an appointment for a session as soon as school is out.

Deja View Attends Design 101 Class Sponsored by WPPI, H&H and Graphic Authority

To be part of this class has been an amazing experience.  It was an online webinar that lasted 6 sessions over a three week period with instructors Jaron Horrocks, from Graphic Authority and David Curerdon who taught beauty retouching tips. I have spent the last couple weeks working with Photoshop using masks, clipping masks, textures, overlays, frames, edges the list goes on and on.  Each of us in the class was given the assignment to produce a final project including a card, canvas and a twenty page book all supplied by H&H Color Lab. I hope to have all of these completed before I head off to the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International Convention in Las Vegas. I have never printed a 12x12 canvas, mine have all been larger and this will be the first time I use a series of photos. I have put together a collection of my favorite cat and dog images for this and the book I plan to use as a sample to show my clients my recent portrait work including babies, children, Seniors and individuals.

Besides working with great instructors like Jaron and David I also was able to connect with another person in the class who has a wedding photography business in Cleveland, Ohio.  Kelly Brown and her husband Jay own J.A.Y.S. Photography . Kelly has years of experience in Photoshop and has been a wonderful help to mentor me while working on this project.  Kelly will also be at WPPI and I can't wait to meet her. We both are in an evening class, one of the first nites in Las Vegas, where we will be photographing models on the strip not far from the MGM where we are staying.
