WellHearts Luncheon Sponsored by Jefferson Healthcare Foundation-Photos by Deja View Photography and Kay Harper

Jefferson Healthcare Foundation hosted its first Annual WellHearts Luncheon earlier this month. It was a very successful event  with over 150 in attendance.  The keynote speaker was Dr. Rosemary Peterson who gave an excellent presentation on health issues relevant to women. The community support was incredible and it was exciting to be a part of this important health event. Thanks to Kay Harper for helping me take these images at this fund raiser.

Adopt Us and Put a Little Love in Your Heart

Some adorable cats and dogs looking for homes this week at the Humane Society of Jefferson County. The sweet Husky puppy pictured with her head cocked to one side was adopted earlier this week after I had created this poster. I made this odd squeaky noise to get her attention but I have never had a dog turn their head quite this much in response to the noise I make.

You can visit anyone of these animals at the Port Townsend shelter Tuesday-Sunday from 12-5 or call the shelter at (360) 385-3292.

Anyone have a favorite this week?

Cakes by Takes the Cake from Sequim

I wanted to share some photos of cakes made by That Takes the Cake bakery located in Sequim. The beautiful butterfly cake was made for a Quinceanera. The theme of Angela's celebration was butterflies thus the beautiful cake fluttering with them on all the tiers of the cake.  The second cake was a wedding cake made for Shelby and Curt's wedding I also photographed at the Northwest Maritime Center here in Port Townsend.

Annie's Flower Farm did the gorgeous flowers for the wedding and also the ones used to embellish the cake Curt and Shelby are cutting.

While often to busy to eat while photographing a wedding I always try to make time for a piece of cake or a cupcake made by That Takes the Cake.

Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce-2016 Business Leader of the Year

These are photos I took last year of the nominees and winners of the 2015 Business Leader of the Year. I'm looking forward to photographing the event again this March at Fort Worden.

I copied this from the Jefferson County Chamber Newletter:

It’s crunch time for nominations! Do you know a Jefferson County business owner, and member of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, who you feel has the attributes to be our community’s Business Leader of the Year? How about a Young Professional in Jefferson County? A business owner, manager or director, under 45 years of age, who deserves recognition? Or perhaps a Jefferson County volunteer who fits the description of Citizen of the Year? If so, please take the time to fill out a nomination form.

The criteria for nominating are located on the forms available on our website. You can submit an online nomination, or print a form and send it in to the Chamber of Commerce. More information is available at www.jeffcountychamber.org or in your weekly e-newsletter. The Business, Young Professional & Citizen of the Year Brunch will be held at Fort Worden, Commons A, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 6. Make your Brunch reservation now by contacting Laura Brackenridge at 360-385-7869 or admin@jeffcountychamber.org. Tickets are $40 per person. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Deadline for nominations is February 8.

Perfect time to fall in love with one of the cats or dogs available for adoption at the Port Townsend shelter.

You can visit the Jefferson County Humane Society shelter Tuesday-Sunday from 12-5 or call them at 385-3292. This week I'm in love with little Mittens.

Port Townsend Arts Commission Honors 'Angle of the Arts' Recipents

Port Townsend is such an amazing place filled with caring people who give selfishly volunteer hundreds of hours to our community. It was a nice ceremony seeing Louie, Selena, Carla, Gail and  Polly honored by the PT Arts Commission. I was glad I remembered to grab my camera as I ran out the door.
