Looking for Love in Port Townsend

These images are of photos that I took this week at our local shelter in Port Townsend.  We had several animals adopted last week at the Jefferson Humane Society but we still have lots of animals who need loving homes. Sophie and Savannah are two cats who have been at the shelter for a couple months and really deserve to find that one perfect person to take them home.

You can see more information about each of these animals by visiting Petfinder and making sure our area code of 98368 is in the search button. You can also reach the shelter by calling 385-3292. Thanks for taking the time to consider perhaps adopting one of these deserving animals.

Fashion Shoot at Posh Hair Salon-Gina Holeman Stylist

These are some recent images I took at Posh Hair Salon and Day Spa . Gina Holeman one of the Stylist at the salon, here in Port Townsend, hired me to photograph some of her clients including Molly a fellow Stylist. I had a lot of fun photographing all the women and can't wait for the opportunity to do it again.

Remembering Kodak in Better Times

I went back to a post I did on my Blog back in November of 2010. I was listening to photographer Dane Sanders from AskDane.com. That night he was giving a live presentation podcast from Knoxville. I was really touched as I sat at my computer editing photos for clients and posting new images to update my website. Dane's topic was "Finding Your Way" in the photography world.

During his presentation he showed a YouTube Video from Kodak. It was released several years ago and is just as relevant today on why photographs are part of our lives, our whole lives, no matter who we are or what we do. I'm adding the link to the clip, one Kodak Gallery Commercial (Live Forever) long version or the Kodak Gallery Commercial (Live Forever) short version .

If you haven't seen this before it is a really touching video especially for any of us who have lost a loved one and despite their death their memory still survives through photographs. I feel so blessed that I'm a Photographer, I would like to think I do more than just take photos but rather I create memories. Many of my recent family images have reminded me how I have captured a certain time in my clients lives that they will never have again. It can be a couple celebrating a special anniversary, a family reunion in at Fort Worden, images of a family gathering where they have came from all the over country/world to PT to spread their parents ashes or the joy of an 80th birthday party. I love what I do and feel I bring something special to my photography business because I understand and value the importance of a photograph.

Helpful Links to Wedding Websites

I'm really excited about the meeting I had on Sunday with potential wedding clients who will be married here in Port Townsend at the end of the summer. They are a really nice couple and learning more about them, how they met, his romantic proposal and all the details of their wedding was really fun. I hope to post more about them after we do their engagement session here in Port Townsend.

Being a snow day here in Port Townsend I was inspired to go online and spend some time finding some links, listed below, that might be helpful to couples planning their wedding. I have just updated my wedding price list and would love the opportunity to sit down with anyone planning a wedding here in Port Townsend. We could meet here at my studio and discuss the details of your wedding, review the different collections I offer, the variety of products including albums and fine art canvas and my availability for the date of your wedding. You can reach me here at the studio at 385-2662.

Sunday in Seattle at the Seattle Wedding Show

 Green Apple Events & Catering
 Bella Umbrella
 Edmonds Bakery
Twelve Baskets Catering

I had a wonderful time on Sunday heading into Seattle to the Convention Center to attend the 40th Annual Wedding Show. Almost as much fun as talking to the vendors and viewing all the products was watching all the young women there at the show with their girlfriends, Mom and a smaller number with their fiances. Their excited in asking questions to vendors, testing all the different sample cakes and watching the fashion show. The fashion show was fun with lots of runway dancing done by nearly all the handsome young male models.

They really discourage taking photos during the show at the booths at during the fashion show but everyone was taking pictures. I stopped and asked a couple vendors permission to take a couple shots but lugging my camera around while trying to juggle a bag with over 35 pounds of magazines and handouts was difficult. I picked up copies of  latest issues of The Knot, the Puget Sound Wedding Resource Guide, and Seattle Met Bride & Groom.

Animals Available for Adoption at Humane Society of Jefferson County

These are photos of animals available this week at our shelter here in Port Townsend. We only have one dog currently and his name is Brutus. This little guy is small Patterdale Terrier and weighs in at 20 pounds. The cat named Freddy is in foster care with Dr. Ginny at the Hadlock Vet Clinic. You can call the clinic at 385-2020 if you want to stop by and visit Freddy.

We have lots of lovely affectionate cats right now at the Humane Society of Jefferson County. If I wasn't allergic to cats I would bring Salsa home with me. She is a very pretty four year old medium haired tabby and white cat. She is quiet and mellow, but also very friendly and affectionate and she just loves to be petted. She immediately comes to the front of the cage for some attention when you talk to her. With her medium length fur she will need some regular brushing to keep her looking pretty and prevent mats. Give the shelter a call today at (360) 385-3292 if you have space in your home and heart to give this deserving cat a new home.
