Well Hearts Event Happening this Friday-Sponsored by Jefferson Healthcare Foundations

I'm excited to be photographing the Well Hearts Event tomorrow sponsored by Jefferson Healthcare and the Jefferson Healthcare Foundation. This will be my third time, Deja View Photography, will photograph this fun event. I tried to upload a larger file for this video but the size was to large for use here on Blogger. Love the song that goes along with all the smiles I got from past participants over the last couple years. Everyone looked great in red, my favorite color to wear too. This event raises money to help women in our community.

Dr. Mattern, from Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend, honored by WA Rural Health Association

A couple years ago I was hired by Jefferson Healthcare to photography staff at what was the new Sheridan Medical Building. I got lots of great images over several days but one of my favorite moments was sitting in with Dr. Mattern as he visited with a new mom. I tried to be a fly on the wall while taking candids. I was touched to see him interacting with this family and captured this sweet moment with the baby in his arms. Dr. Joseph Mattern is both the Jefferson Healthcare Chief Medical Officer as well as a primary care Physician. He was just recognized for his work by the Washington Rural Health Association. I also took this image that was included with an article about him and his award in the PDN this week. Girls' Night Out-A Day & Night of Girlfriend FUN & Shopping in Port Townsend

What fun the 2018 Girls' Night Out Event was again this year. Over 600 Goodie Bags, for $25, were sold at The Cotton Building in Port Townsend. Money raised benefited Jefferson Healthcare Foundation, to help provide breast and cervical cancer screenings, care and treatment for low income Jefferson County residents, and the Port Townsend Main Street Program, a 501c3 nonprofit.There were events in every store, special treats and door prizes at most the local merchants with a wrap-up party at the end of the day. Deja View Photography had a booth set up along with a basket to enter a contest to win a studio portrait session. 
Lots of people to thank for their support. Nearly $7500 was raised this year. The event was sponsored by the Port Townsend Main Street Program, Jefferson Healthcare, and Home Instead Senior Care. Jefferson Healthcare – Free Menopause Discussion Group

Last year I had the pleasure of photographing Jane Albee. Jane is a staff member at Jefferson Healthcare Women’s Health Clinic and is hosting a five week discussion for pre and menopausal women.  

This information is from the Jefferson Healthcare website: Starting February 23, and continuing March 2, March 9, March 23 and March 30 from noon to 1:00 pm in the Women’s Health Clinic on the main campus.  The best treatment for menopause is information.  Topics to be explored in a supportive atmosphere with other women include: menopause overview, managing menopause with hormones, sexual health, pelvic health and other medical impacts of menopause.  All registered participants receive a complimentary copy of the Menopause Guidebook.

The group is facilitated by Jefferson Healthcare’s Jane Albee, ARNP and Certified Menopause Practitioner through the North American Menopause Society. Jane has been a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner for thirty-five years.  Prior to moving to the Olympic Peninsula in 1991, Jane worked in college Health.  Jane was the clinic manager for the Hall Health Women's clinic at the University of Washington in the 1980s.  She also started the college health service for the University of Alaska, Juneau.  Before coming to work with Jefferson Healthcare, Jane worked with Dr. Robert Palmer in private gynecology practice for twenty years.  Jane’s interests include mid-life health, menopause, hormone therapy, diagnosing and treating difficult vaginal conditions, sexual concerns and contraceptive issues. She offers menopause support and educational talks to groups as a service to the community.

Port Townsend Photographer Celebrates 2016

Deja View Photography  had a wonderful year of photographing people and events during 2016. I photographed several weddings at beautiful venues like Fort Worden, the Quimper Unitarian Church, Manressa Castle, and a couple from London that were married at the Inn at Port Ludlow Resort in November.

Port Townsend Film Festival

In September I volunteered to photographed on for the Port Townsend Film Festival where I captured candids of festival participants. This was my third year to volunteer and I can't wait to do it again next year. I photographed the Taste of Port Townsend for Main Street. Took photos with Main Street members that was used in their poster and advertising for this years Girls Night Out. The event raised Over $6000 to support breast and cervical cancer screening for low income Jefferson County residents. 

St. Mary's Church here in Port Townsend hired me to photograph and document Father John's last year before his retirement. 

The Port Townsend Summer Band needed an updated photo so fellow Photographer Kay Harper and I posed nearly 40 band member along side the Cotton Building for a group photo. Just as we were finishing up the last couple shots the band was dive bombed by a seagull but everyone was great not to freak out and without missing a "beat" we got the last couple photos to complete the session. 

The Business Guides here is Port Townsend hired me in 2015 to take all their updated head shots for their website, They asked me to photograph a group image for their 2015 Christmas card and asked me again in 2016 to capture a festive moment with the group. What a wonderful group of people to work with and photograph. 

I have volunteered to photograph Memorial Day Service and Veterans Day ceremonies at the Marvin G. Shields Memorial American Legion here in Port Townsend for the last ten years. In both May and November of this year local vets from World War II and Korea were honored with quilts made by the women from Quilts of Valor organization. The quilts were spectacular pieces of art created for each individual veteran. What a touching event to document for them. 

This is my 11th year to volunteer at the Humane Society of Jefferson County. Helping by photographing cats and dogs looking for homes has been a wonderful experience for me and a great way to give back to my community. Taking animal photos over the years has made me a better Photographer and far more patient in capturing an image. 












While living in a small community it gives you the flexibility to photograph a variety of events. I'm never bored with the possibilities of different assignments or techniques to learn. Nothing is more rewarding for me as being able to photograph a Senior who was reluctant to have their photos taken and encouraged by parents to be there. But to photograph images that they love and that in the end they had fun capturing is very special to me. Or to get a head shot that perhaps an employer has suggested an employee had to have taken but they just weren't comfortable in having their photo taken. To have them be pleased with their experience and to remark, "the photo looks just like me" is a wonderful feeling. A couple years ago I did a local wedding show and had examples of my work on display. Someone stopped to ask me if I had used models for all the images or if they were real people. I was shocked by her question but she said she assumed they were models since they looked so good and all looked happy in the images. 

I'm already working on my 2016 taxes and with great excitement have new binders created for this years paperwork and client information. I have lots of new ideas for products to share with my clients, personal projects to work on and new ideas to expand my advertising. Main Street Raises $3000 for Jefferson Healthcare

Approximately 500 women came downtown on Oct. 1st for our 12th Annual Girls’ Night Out sponsored by PT Main Street, Jefferson Healthcare, Ozone Socks and generous participating merchants. All 500 goody bags sold out on the day of the event! And the raffle tickets were popular too--congrats to the ticket holder who won the $700 raffle prize. The day started out with the new “Tiara Trot,” and 65 women came Tiara Trotting. Thanks to all who supported Girls’ Night Out which raised over $3000 for Jefferson Healthcare screenings for women in need, and $3000 for our nonprofit Main Street Program. Thank you to The Belmont for hosting 90 women at the After Party--it was great fun! The food was incredible. 

The Clothes Horse was one of many of the generous merchants who donated to Girls' Night Out. So taking this photo at the store in front of the Ozone sock display was a perfect backdrop for the photo. Earlier this week I took this photo of Mari from PT Main Street displaying the check for $3000 that was given to Jefferson Healthcare here in Port Townsend.
