Start the New Year Out With An Updated Professional Business Portrait

Selah Martha, a local educator and therapist, recently came to my studio here in Port Townsend for a business portrait to use on her website she was updating.  My studio lighting system offers lovely soft lighting perfect for any portrait.  Having this permanent set up in my studio makes for a quick easy session to get great images that can be used on business cards, brochures or on a website. There is a charge for the session and then images are additional. Give me a call today if you want to start the new year off right with a new image on any of your marketing material.

While my December schedule is nearly full I have session space available in January to set up a time with you to take an updated portrait.

Portrait Session at Fort Worden State Park

While the weather is starting to change by the addition of a bit of wind and rain we are still having some pleasant days here in Port Townsend.  There is still another month before the deadline for Port Townsend High School Seniors to turn in their images for their yearbook. I still have a couple openings in December to schedule a Senior session or a family session outside depending on the weather. The light is lovely almost all day at this time of year. Give me a call at (360)385-2662 if you would like to book a session before the end of the year.

Great Day for the Port Townsend Kiwanis Classic Car Show

What a beautiful day in Port Townsend. The Port Townsend Kiwanis put on another wonderful Classic Car Show this year at Memorial Field. I took a break from editing photographs to get down to the field just after the show opened this morning. The sun came out too quickly then the fog moved in for a bit then back to full sun. Great weather for all the participants, not so great for photographers.

I had a great time visiting with several car owners and made some new friends and was able to visit with a couple people I hadn't seen for a long time. I would love the opportunity to photography cars for their owners. I have ton of fun products that would make the perfect gift for any car owner. Personalized business cards, canvas prints with a large image or even the image of the car printed on metal which looks really cool. Give me a call if interested in sitting up a "car" portrait session. (360) 385-2662

Port Townsend Male Seeks Good Home

This attractive young gray tabby needs a home. He is really playful and loves attention. Last week he posed for me for a variety of different shots-full body, back lit, side profile and even upside down. What a ham in front of the camera. He would make a ideal companion and is available at the Jefferson County Animal Shelter at (360) 385-3292.

Cupcakes from Perfect Endings Cupcakes in Port Townsend

I recently bought myself a cupcake from the Perfect Ending Cupcake store. A friend had bought me one for my birthday so I decided to check out the store located in downtown Port Townsend. Their shop is lovely inside with lots of choices for different flavors and sizes of cupcakes. Anyone who knows me knows that I love chocolate so it didn't take long for me to decide to go with the red velvet with chocolate frosting. I had thought I might try photographing it when I got it home. However, I barely had the lens cap off when I tried a finger full of the frosting. With one side now missing frosting I tried turning it around so the bare side didn't show up in my image finder. Didn't work, ate the whole thing. It was delicious.

Check out Perfect Ending Cupcakes website for more information. They are located at 909 Water Street, near the stoplight in the center of downtown. You can ask to have it to go and they will put it a elegant box with their label. It makes for a great presentation and it would make a great gift to give a special friend on any occasion. I guarantee the receiver will feel special and enjoy the treat inside. Next time I'll buy two one to eat and one to photograph.

Memorial Day in Port Townsend

Every year I try to attend both the Memorial Day celebration and the Veteran's Day ceremony at the Port Townsend American Legion. My Dad has been an active member of the American Legion in Wisconsin for some 60 years. When I was around 12 I was Poppy Princess one year as I sold the most poppies in our small town.  A friend shared this link with me describing the meaning of Memorial Day. I had no idea the tradition started in 1868 as Confederate Memorial Day and was changed to just Memorial Day by Congress in 1971.

This year the rain held off for the local program and I was able to get some photographs of the ceremony that was held on the dock for the placing of the wreaths over the side of the pier. Thanks to all who put on the program inside the Legion, Joe Carey, Karl Bach and the Port Townsend Band and the women of the Legion who put on the luncheon afterwards.

Later in the day I went out to the Cemetery at  Fort Worden State Park . It was one of the first times I actually walked around and looked closely at the head stones. Every head stone had a flag on it and I was surprised to see that not only service men and women were buried there but also their spouses and even children. Some one from the community had honored the headstones that listed Unknown by making a special effort to put flowers on every one of those graves.

Melissa & Matthew's Wedding

Melissa & Matthew's Wedding Rehearsal

Melissa and Matthew's wedding rehearsal was held down at the Farm Kitchen near Poulsbo on May 13th. During the rehearsal I decided to catch some candids just in case we had rain the next day during their wedding. Luckily the next day the weather was perfect and only near the end of photographing the posed images did it start to rain.

Fun Music Video Clip

Well the sun came out yesterday so it was a perfect day to get some outdoor photographs. My friend Amy offered to model for me while I tested out some new equipment. I have photographed Amy and her family before so it was fun to be around Amy again. The filtered light was amazing coming through the canapy of trees. Later just as the sun was setting we got a few more images of her on her porch looking towards the sunset. Amy is a natural at modeling even suggesting poses or different angles to photograph from.

Gray Weather Doesn't Dampen Engagement Session at Fort Worden

Despite gray skies and a little rain I had a wonderful time photographing Melissa and Matthew's engagement session at Fort Worden on Saturday. The weather certainly didn't dampen the spirits of this handsome young couple.  Melissa brought magazine images of several poses she liked and Matthew was very patient with my requests for, "just one more photo". We walked the beach for a bit then brought the dogs from the car for a couple family photos and then drove to the nearest bunkers for some more images. Afterwards we met at the Bayview for coffee and discussed the details of  their May wedding at the Farm Kitchen near Poulsbo.  I enjoyed learning about all the details of the wedding and hearing the story on how they first met. I actually photographed both Melissa and Matthew last year when they needed professional photos for their work. We also talked about their families and how important their faith is in their life's. I can't wait to photograph their wedding and I'm honored they have picked me as their photographer.
