High School Senior Session at Fort Worden in Port Townsend

I photographed my first 2022 Senior, a young man from Spokane. He was visiting family who lives in Sequim. The young man plays the guitar and is a big fan of Eddie Van Halen. He wanted images of himself on a rock in the water with his guitar, similar to a Van Haven poster. After some searching for the perfect rock/location, the scene was set for photos and afterwards, we headed to the bunkers at Fort Worden for more photos. This was my favorite from the session.

Not Too Late for Port Townsend Senior Portraits

The weather may be gray and wet right now but it isn't too late to get great Port Townsend High School Senior images and met the yearbook deadline. Right now I have openings for in studio sessions for the Senior head shot needed for the yearbook. I have a waiting list for on location sessions when the rain stops and the sun returns. With nicer weather we can get back outside to take photos at the Fort in the bunkers or at the beach or in scenic downtown Port Townsend or a favorite location special just to you.

The collage of images here are ones I took recently of Rowan who did a studio session first and then we headed out to Fort Worden late afternoon for unique variety of different looks.

Rowan is very active in local plays at his school and other held at Key City Players here in Port Townsend and need a professional head shot when applying to different collages. He was recently accepted to Cornish College of Arts in Seattle next year. I can't wait to follow his adventures in 2017. I loved working with Rowan for these on location images. As with all the Seniors I photograph it is fun to get to know them during the session, learn about their plans for after graduation and to follow them on Facebook.

Give me a call today at (360) 385-2662 or visit my website at Deja View Photography to book a studio consultation session.

Port Townsend Leader Photo Contest

Please check out the great images submitted in the 2014 Through the Lens Photo Contest in this weeks Port Townsend Leader. Deja View Photography  was one of the sponsors for the contest. You can vote either online or use the form on the page with the photo entries, deadline is September 18th.

Angela, a recent client, gave me permission to use this fun image from a photo session she had at my Port Townsend studio. She needed images to use for an invitation to announce her QuinceaƱera that I will be photographing in February. It is wonderful working with her, and her Mom, and I can't wait to document this special celebration for them in the spring.

10 Things to Think About When Preparing for Your Senior Session

1. Wear something you love and feel comfortable in like a favorite top. Clients of all ages know what clothes and colors they look great in. Often a favorite color is also the same one you look best in.

2. Bring along fun accessories that tell the story that makes you unique. Last year I had three Seniors who played the violin and they all made their instrument part of their session. Zander loved his favorite hat and used this image as his photo for his yearbook and I photographed Cory at his home on his bike.

3. Bring several different outfits. Try to avoid short sleeves and plaids or strips.

4. Think about your favorite location. Did you grown up hanging out in the bunkers, or on the beach out at Fort Worden? The park maybe the perfect spot to capture your Senior images? The variety of different colored and textured bunker walls make for beautiful backgrounds as do the grasses and the beach. Do you love our historical buildings in downtown Port Townsend with all the brick work and colorful walls? Downtown alleys offer great fun backgrounds for a session.

5. Wear something fun but probably best to avoid bright strips or plaids when planning your outfits. Something too bright or distracting may take away from your portrait.

6. Have some some fun ideas from a magazine like Ellie or Vanity Fair? Bring those clipping along to your session. You might have an idea for a great pose you would like to recreate.

7. I will work with you and share some common tips on posing to create the most flattering image of you for your session.

8. If you are doing a studio session and want to bring along a favorite CD to play during your session.

9. Remember to bring a comb or brush to your session.

10. If bringing along several different outfits take the time to put them on a hanger not balled up in a bag with so many wrinkles it will detract from your portrait.

Contact Deja, local Port Townsend Photographer, and owner of Deja View Photography at 385-2662 to schedule at session today.

Looking to Book Your High School Senior Session before the Monsoons Hit the Port Townsend/Chimacum area?

Port Townsend, and Chimacum High School Seniors now is the time to think about scheduling your Senior photo session. The deadline for the submitting images to the Chimacum yearbook is November 1 and Port Townsend is later around the first week in January. Hopefully we still have some lovely fall days ahead before the monsoons move in making it a bit more difficult to take book an on location session. When the weather does change my studio offers a great alternative to capture images indoors. Here is a little video from a couple years ago with a variety of high school students including Seniors.

Contact Port Townsend Photographer Deja Webster at Deja View Photography to set up a complimentary consultation meeting. You can reach me here in Port Townsend at 385-2662 or visit my website at Deja View Photography.

Port Townsend Photography-High School Senior Portraits in Studio or on Location

Now is the perfect time to contact me about setting up a free consultation for a Senior session. Since school starts in a couple weeks booking now should be bit easier before the school year begins. The weather is great & the late summer light is beautiful in the early morning or early evening. These images are from last fall when Cory booked a studio session & an on location session. I photographed him in my Port Townsend studio then with his bike at his home & then more photos were taken at Fort Worden.

Fort Worden offers such a great variety of colored backgrounds, from the bunkers, to the beach with soft yellow and green grasses.  The Fort is really one of my favorite spots to photograph Seniors. Downtown Port Townsend is also a popular location many High School Seniors pick for their on location session. Historical downtown offers old worn bricks, limestone grays, old weathered doors, cool back alleys with great light and wonderful textured backgrounds.

Call me today at Deja View Photography, located in Port Townsend, at 385-2662 to book a free consultation to discuss the perfect Senior session to capture your unique likes and interests.

Port Townsend & Chimacum High School Seniors Now Is the Time

Now is a perfect time to book your High School Senior Session. The weather has been great and either early morning or late afternoon offers lovely lighting at almost any location around Port Townsend or Chimacum to capture your image.

I offer in studio or on location sessions and a variety of print packages and products. Many Seniors order traditional prints but also purchase fun Brag Books, metal prints or art canvas of their favorite images. What ever type of session you book it includes a variety or poses, unique props that you can bring along that are unique to you, multiple outfit changes and if on location it can include more than one location like Fort Worden, downtown Port Townsend or at Chezemoka Park.

I usually meet with Seniors and their parents first for a free initial consultation and discuss the session, posing, clothing options, my print packages and products. If it sounds like you are interested in working with me we set a time for the Senior session at that meeting. Next is the session itself.  After that I review and edit the photos and have the Senior and their parents back to look over the images and pick out their favorites. Once prints and products are ordered it takes about a week to have an order ready for pick up and review in my studio. I strive to make each session unique for each Senior to capture this special time in their life. I provide excellent customer service and offer products that a family will treasure for years to come.

My August schedule is booking quickly so give me a call today at 385-2662 to set up a time to photograph your session while you still have that great summer tan and a more flexible schedule before school starts.

Downtown Port Townsend Senior

This is one of my favorite images from Leah's Senior session on location in downtown Port Townsend. This image really pops when I had in printed as a metallic print which is one of the many products I offer Seniors who book their session at Deja View Photography.

Leah's Mother, Joyce Finch sent me this nice thank you note:
Thank you Deja for taking such amazing senior portraits of Leah! You seemed to capture her beautiful spirit as well as her appearance.

2012 Senior on Location in Port Townsend

Zander is a confident young man who attends Port Townsend High School. Zander wanted an outdoor session to include a series of photographs from around downtown Port Townsend. These three were in front of City Hall and on the Historical Society steps. The color and texture add a depth to the photo that makes this type of fun image different than an image taken in my Port Townsend studio. The light was perfect the December afternoon I took these images.

It is not too early to start thinking about having your Senior Portrait taken if you are going to be a Senior in 2013. Give me a call today, 385-2662, if you want to stop by the studio to visit and schedule an appointment for a session as soon as school is out.

PT Leader High School Senior Spotlight Features Cali Kopczick

I was really excited to open the Port Townsend Leader on Wednesday and read about Chimacum High School Senior Cali Kopczick. Cali was highlighted in this weeks Leader feature titled High School Senior Spotlight. I had the opportunity to met Cali last year when I photographed her Senior Portrait out at Fort Worden here in Port Townsend.  Cali is hoping to attend either the University of Washington or Yale in the fall. I was very impressed to read in the article that Cali has maintained a 4.0 average throughout her years in high school. I look forward to keeping in touch with Cali and her family as she moves on to college.
