Last week was the one year anniversary of Elizabeth and Casey's wedding. The couple lives in Texas but the groom's family lives in the area so they picked Fort Worden for their wedding location. The July weather cooperated from the party the night before at the Kitchen Shelter, to the bride getting ready at the Swan Hotel Penthouse, to the posed photos before the wedding in the beautiful garden at the Bishop Hotel. Tanya Rublaitus was the wedding coordinated and Julie from the Fort helped with all the advance planning needed for this destination wedding. The spectacular flowers were created by Petals here in Port Townsend. The wedding itself was under the giant Madrone tree at the Fort and the reception was at the Northwest Maritime Center which was decorated by Rebekah from Seed Design. The scrumptious food was catered by the Silverwater, the incredible geode cake, the groom is a Geologist, was from That Takes the Cake and DJ Scott Fijolek had everyone out on the dance floor rocking out. Port Townsend Wedding-Elopements-Engagements Event Venues and Services

Right now I'm very excited to be part of a group of businesses that represent venues and services available to couples planning to come to Port Townsend for their destination wedding. A group of Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce Members are working together to support and promote couples coming to the Peninsula not only for their wedding but other special events like celebrating anniversaries or family reunions. Port Townsend and the entire Olympic Peninsula is an incredible place to visit and offers an unlimited amount of venues, services, events and activities to take part in while visiting.

Next time your thinking of a destination location for a wedding or other family gathering consider Port Townsend. Many of the venues listed below not only offer event space, or lodging, some have their own restaurant or offer catering. Many of these venues like the Maritime Center and Fort Worden are large enough for bigger groups while others offer more intimate settings for smaller groups, both options should fit any occasion.

Update 9-13 I received a lovely email from the couple that bought my print at the Northwest Maritime Show. It read:
Greetings from your fans in California! We purchased that lovely and beautifully framed photo at the reception. It was nice to see it on your blog. Since we did not want to cram it into a suitcase, we left it at my sister's in Port Angeles until our next visit. As dog and cat lovers, we also appreciate your warm reflections of those adorable dogs and cats waiting for a home. Your work has heart and makes a special connection with the viewer. One of my images from a past Wooden Boat Festival is part of the On the Water Exhibit now on display at the Port Townsend Northwest Maritime Center. The exhibit is located on the 2nd floor of the NWMC's  Resource Building which is the yellow building located on Water Street just before you enter the Point Hudson Marina. During Wooden Boat Festival the display will be open on Friday from 9-7 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 9-5 p.m. It is a wonderful show and if  you are in town for the PTWB festival you should check it out. The exhibit will be up until September 22nd.

An artist's reception was held last month for those of us that are part of the show. I was so excited when a couple visiting from California approached me about buying my framed photograph of Katie right off the wall.  I sold that copy to them that night and last week returned to the Maritime Center with another copy to be on display and available for purchase during the Wooden Boat Festival.
